Looking young for less? What’s the secret? As I am turning 44 very soon, my mind turns to what I have learned about health and beauty. Keep in mind that I have 2 children, one when I was in my early 20s and another one 2 years after the first picture was taken when I was 36. One of the ways that I have managed to maintain my appearance over the last 10 years is to exercise consistently. I have been able to do this by having a personal trainer (even through I am a personal trainer!!)
If I told you that for about $3,000 to $5,000, I could make you look younger, live longer and be happier, I am sure that you would give it to me if you had the funds. If you didn’t you would find it and give it to me. Well I can make you look younger, live longer and be happier for about that price. The key is to getting a personal trainer and using natural body products. That’s what I do, and It seems to be working.
I have posted my picture above at age 34. Now compare it below to my picture at age 44. I have managed to keep a youthful appearance by dedicating myself to keeping good nutrition and having a personal trainer (even though I am a personal trainer) and maintaining my fitness routine. Looking young does not have to involve expensive surgery.
Looking Young – Use Natural Cosmetics
I started CHIC Luxury Soaps because I believe in using quality products. I use Premium Lavender Shampoo with Lavender essential oil on my hair to keep it healthy. I use organic activated charcoal soap on my face to keep it clean and youthful looking. You can find all of the CHIC Luxury Soap products online at chicsoaps.com or a selection of them at the Arts Market in Toronto at 1114 Queen Street East. You will discover that the natural body products work well, are healthier and less expensive than the brand alternatives.
Looking Young – Nutrition
I recently did a blog article on nutrition vs. training. Essentially I said that nutrition comes first for the beginner. If you don’t work on your nutrition, your training will not be as effective. April Bensoshan did an article about 8 Ways Changing Your Diet Can Make You Look 10 Years Younger. She presents some very simple ways we can change out diet to move to a more youthful appearance.
Looking Young – Fitness – Personal Training
It is very clear that exercise and fitness is key to keeping a youthful appearance. I have been consistently exercising since I was 14 years old. I have not had any surgeries on my face or body and I think I have been able to maintain a youthful appearance. Many people complain about the price of a personal trainer. However, when you compare it to most of the beauty alternatives, they are so much more expensive and less effective in most cases. My current trainer is Brendan McDonnell at Life Time Athletics in Ajax.
Cosmetic Surgery as an Alternative to Getting a Personal Trainer
I find it amazing that so many people complain about the cost of a personal trainer, when they will easily spend 5,000 to 10,000 on cosmetic surgery to get a tummy tuck, butt lift etc. In an article on the Shelf Life of Plastic Surgery, Emiy Woodruff says:
Plastic surgery isn’t exactly a small undertaking. Unlike Botox, which fades over time, plastic surgery is considered permanent. It’s a once-and-you’re-done procedure — a smart long-term investment, which is why those of us willing to go under the knife will swallow the hefty price tag. But, as it turns out, a nip and tuck meant to erase the hands of time can defy age for only so long. And, often, patients who thought their first procedure would be their last find themselves shelling out for a tune-up.
Looking young for less is not just about women. For about $9000 you can get male pectoral implants. For that same $9000 you can get between 100 to 150 hours of personal training. That is 3 times a week for 30 to 50 weeks. With consistent personal training like that, you would be well on your way to having pecs, abs, and the rest of your body looking good. You would be looking young for less. The personal trainer could also help you make life style changes so that your changes will be long lasting, unlike the cosmetic surgery. If you go to the Edelstein Clinic site, they have listed the costs of their procedures.
The changes that we make to our bodies naturally will be long lasting and they will also add years on our lives. They will add both quality and quantity to our lives. This is why my motto is “Beauty is an attitude” It has to do with how we treat our bodies and minds.
