What is Fitness? As a personal trainer in the Durham region, I often get the question asked of me…what is fitness? Here is a video of Barrington at age 1 on the left helping around the house and again on the right at age 7 doing one of his two daily chores which he has been doing since age 4.
What is Fitness?
What is fitness? Fitness is more than exercise, it’s a way of life. Help your children to be fit for life, start early and keep going. Help them to develop good habits early. It will help them to live well, and also long. It is important to develop good habits early, because they will tend to stick. It is so much easier to develop these good habits in young children than adolescents or adults. We should be thinking about the question “What is Fitness” early on as parents. It is our job as parents to create a routine that includes recreation, responsibilities, and free time so that our children can learn to manage their time.
How to Help Develop Good Habits in Children?
Barrington does 2 daily chores for about 45 minutes, half hour piano practice, half hour minimum of education work and one activity of basketball, tae kwon do, or swimming and the rest of the time he is free to do whatever he likes, so long as he has completed his responsibilities and activities.
This is why I always say “beauty is an attitude”!
